1990s Cantilever Desk Lamp

1990s Cantilever Desk Lamp

A$220.00

A cantilever desk lamp from the late 1980s or early 1990s. This is as simple as postmodern design gets - elegant, robust, functional and beautiful. I’ve dubbed this the poor man’s Tizio lamp, it has all the style at a fraction of the cost.

Distributed by Brilliant Lighting (Aust.) Pty Ltd. It was manufactured in Taiwan and is of very good quality, though it was never intended to be a top-shelf designer product, just a good quality desk lamp. We see a strong Richard Sapper influence here - compares nicely to his Tizio lamp.

This lamp has been tested/tagged, the wiring fixture to the lamp has been replaced and the surface lightly restored. It’s in excellent working order.

DIMENSIONS:

Base high 28 cm including arch

Diam base 12 cm

Main arm 73 cm

At mid stretch 60 cm long x 50 cm high

CONDITION:

A minor chip at the wire inlet to the main arm as shown in images. Otherwise very good condition. Original sticker to back of base explains changing the bulb. In excellent order, tested and tagged safe to Australian electrical standards. New felt base.

DID YOU KNOW? This lamp model has been spotted on some great TV shows - Hacks Season Four being one, in the office of Jimmy and Kayla, Deborah’s managers.
