Ellis Pottery Sgraffito Ceramic and Timber Table Lamp Base Melbourne, 1950s

Ellis Pottery Sgraffito Ceramic and Timber Table Lamp Base Melbourne, 1950s

A$650.00

An Ellis Pottery ceramic lamp with Australian Blackwood base and a turned myrtle stem, stained to a deep walnut finish.

These ceramic and timber Ellis lamps have a classic pared-down mid century aesthetic. This one is in excellent condition with original Bakelite lamp switch.

Rewired with black cloth cord. Tested and tagged, safe to Australia's electrical safety standards. Takes one standard B22 Bayonet Cap (BC) bulb, anything up to 75 watts is OK, but we suggest a high quality LED for energy saving.

The lamp is sold without a shade. We've taken images of the lamp with two different shades to show you how versatile this base can be, moving from a striking vintage fancy silk shade to a French textured linen vintage shade. It works just as well with a simple contemporary black colour barrel or tall shade, available in surprisingly good variety from the big hardware chain starting with B.

MEASURES:

62cm H (to top of bulb fixture) x 17.5cm Diameter

CONDITION:

Very good. Wear consistent with age and use. Rewired, tested and tagged safe for use to Australian Standard. Buyers outside Australia please read notes on wiring below. Timber stem has been restored - stripped and re-coated with satin polyurethane, two coats.

A NOTE ON WIRING:

This item is rewired to Australian/NZ Standard and has been tested and tagged safe for a nominal 230v system (supply of anywhere from 210-240v). Australian and New Zealand buyers must consult a registered electrician for hard wired installation or safety tag will be void. Plug and play if this item is a lamp.

This light is compatible with European 220v electrical systems but wire colours may differ and correct bulbs may or may not be readily available. Please check with your bulb supplier before purchase - many are available online. Consult your electrician for hard wired installation or to change bulb sockets (or for plug change if this item is a lamp).

In the US and anywhere a 110v system is in place - this light may or may not require rewiring to meet your local safety standards and correct bulbs may or may not be readily available. Please use the information provided to seek advice on compatibility from your locally registered electrician before purchase. They will be able to advise on the potential need for rewiring, bulb socket changes, or if this item is a lamp, for plug change. Before purchase, please check with your bulb supplier - many are available online.

Use of LED bulbs is recommended (prevents overheating of your preferred lampshade and reduces power usage).
