Franco Bucci 1973 Coffee or Chocolate Service for Arte Ceramica Romana

Franco Bucci 1973 Coffee or Chocolate Service for Arte Ceramica Romana

A$450.00

Franco Bucci compact coffee service for six with pot, cups, saucers, sugar and creamer. Perfect for after dinner coffee or hot chocolate.

We love this service for its bold, elegant, robust Italian design, typical of the 1970s. Chunky, innovative, attractive, lovely to use and to hold - it has it all. It’s also a great compact size, pours cleanly and stacks beautifully for storage.

Bucci usually designed ceramics for high quality manufacturers. During the 1970s, he produced this 'budget' household crockery service for mass production. It proved very popular.

This set can be viewed in the Bucci archive, listed as item 805. It was produced serially by Arte Ceramica Romana from 1973. Initial production couldn’t meet demand. Several editions were issued, with some small changes to shape and finish along the way.

You may like to see our other listing for a matching Bucci soup service including tureen, bowls and side plates.

All the lids and indeed the whole set are in great condition. Some minor production marks on a couple of saucers, and in the glaze of the coffee pot, as shown. These are natural to the production of slip cast ceramics.

Marked to base 'ACR Arte Ceramica Romana, ITALY, Diritti d'Autore'. ‘Diritti d’Autore’ was an early version of designer’s copyright in Italy.

CONDITION:

Great condition. Note, this production was intentionally manufactured on a budget and not of the very high quality of other Bucci works. For example, there are some minor production marks from the slip casting process, as indicated in images. Images with pencil show the production marks on the pot are unnoticeable in diffuse light, only apparent in raking light.
