SET Four Sterling Silver Iced Tea Straws, 1950s, Okubo Bros. Tokyo
PRICE FOR SET
Elegant and endearing. These spoons are designed for sipping tall mixed drinks or iced tea. The spoon for stirring and scooping, the handle hollow, to use as a straw. Long drinks never looked so elegant. Each has a different Japanese charm attached.
Solid sterling silver.
Made by Okubo Brothers who produced fine silver objects and Japanese gifts for high-end tourists. They sold from their shop in the Imperial Hotel Arcade, Tokyo. The business is still running today, though managed by a different family.
Two spoons are missing from the set but the box is too good to put aside - the label is delightful, and the inside of the lid is speckled with real silver leaf.
