Relief Decorated Vase After Bernard Rooke 1970s

Relief Decorated Vase After Bernard Rooke 1970s

A$120.00

A super cool example of 1970s brutalist ceramics - understated and elegant.

A slab construction vase, in the style of Bernard Rooke, unsigned. Two textured clay slabs have been joined to form a pocket. The opening of the vase slopes down to one side. Abstract shapes have been applied front and back in bas-relief, standing out from the textured surface. A simple bronze-brown glaze highlights the appliqué forms.

MEASURES:

23.7 cm high x 18 cm wide x 6.5 cm deep

CONDITION:

Very good condition, see images for detail. A couple of small fissures, one in the join at the top of the vase as pictured, both are products of the firing process.
