Monumental Signed Shunichi Inoue White and Rose Ash Glazed Vase 1978

Monumental Signed Shunichi Inoue White and Rose Ash Glazed Vase 1978

A$990.00

An exceptional example of the work of master Japanese potter, Shunichi Inoue. This vessel dates from his Australian residency and is signed and dated 1978.

There is potency in this very simple form - it has a powerful Cynthian presence, stillness, composure, that is, it is reminiscent of the calm abiding presence of the moon.

Note, there is a small nibble to glaze on the left upper rim, indicated in images, and one equally insignificant to the ridge at front of the vase, also shown in images.

Please note, this vase was part of a functional collection, actively used for Ikebana flower arrangement and display. For forty-three years it has been in everyday use and is in very good condition in spite of it's hard work.

MEASURES:

40.5cm High x 36cm Wide x 18cm Thick

CONDITION:

See images for the following losses: glancing chip at ridge on the front face of vase, 9mm long x 2mm wide, not at all obvious on viewing vase. One 12mm long x 3mm, shallow glaze chip off to the top left edge of the vase, unobtrusive.
