Brutalist Schott Zwiesel Glass Vase Red Ombre Neck, attrib Heinrich Loeffelhardt, 1970s

A$220.00

A 1970s Brutalist glass vase, hand blown using a mould. The vase has a straight-sided shape with a low foot and ground pontil. It's unsigned.

I was searching for some time for a correct attribution. Now I can confirm, this is by the German glass manufacturer Schott Zweisel.

The subtly graded Crimson ombre neck with grey glass swirls and free bubbles are reminiscent of the work of Benny Motzfeldt. But Motzfeldt was not the only artist making glass with silvery bubbles. Another was the German designer Heinrich Loeffelhardt, for Schott Zweisel.

I eventually found this exact model in an image with a sticker confirming the producer, but not the designer. However, some of Loeffelhardt’s confirmed work in a different colour has same shape. So we can happily attribute this vase to Leoffelhardt.

A very good, heavy, high quality, thick glass. Clearly created with great skill. Carries the Brutalist 1970s aesthetic and colours stylishly forward. Will dramatically shake 2025 interior trends and tell them to wake up.

24cm H x 14cm Diameter
